KARACHI: Video of budget session proceedings sought
KARACHI, July 14: The Special Committee of the provincial assembly, which met here on Monday, has decided to obtain the video cassette from the Pakistan Television regarding the proceedings of provincial budget session, which was recorded on June 16.
The meeting, chaired by provincial minister for planning and development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, was attended by Mohammad Hussain Khan, Irfanullah Khan Marwat, Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi and other members of the committee.
The committee reviewed the resolution, which was adopted by the assembly in its session on June 19. It pertained to disorderly behaviour of some members of the opposition benches.
These opposition members at the time of the presentation of the provincial budget on June 16 had tried to physically attack provincial finance minister Syed Sardar Ahmed to prevent him from delivering his speech in the House.
They had also torn the budget documents and a female member had made a bonfire, the committee members said.
The assembly in its session on June 19 had adopted two similar motions, condemning the disorderly conduct of the opposition members.
The Special Committee of the House, while considering this motion on Monday, decided to obtain the video cassette of the proceedings of the budget session from the PTV.
The meeting decided that the committee would request the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly to write to the PTV for obtaining such a video cassette so that the committee could ascertain the situation clearly.
It was decided that the next meeting of the special committee will be held on July 28.—APP
