HARIPUR, July 13: Tehsil Nazim Iftekhar Ahmad Khan presented on Saturday Rs74.77 million surplus budget of the tehsil municipal administration for 2003-04.

The budget session was chaired by tehsil Naib Nazim Ameen Khan Badhora.

Giving the break-up of the total outlay, the Nazim said Rs72.494 million was estimated as total expenditures, with a surplus amount of Rs2.275 million.

Out of the total expenditures, Rs46.664 million will go under the head of salaries and municipal services.

An allocation of Rs25,828 million was made for the development schemes, which, according to the tehsil nazim, constitute 35 per cent of the total amount.  

About the development budget, Iftekhar Ahmad Khan said Rs8.5 million was earmarked for the ongoing schemes, Rs6.4 million for municipal services, Rs2.4 million for women development, Rs300,000 for the welfare of peasants and workers, Rs200 ,000 for minorities’ welfare, Rs3.6 million for Community Citizen Board’s schemes, Rs2.1 million for the UNDP-funded Improvement of Civic Amenities programme.

About income resources, he told the house that TMA Haripur was expected to receive Rs15.269 million octroi, Rs7.316 million uplift funds from the district government, Rs10 million through TMA’s other resources, including Rs5 million bus terminal fee, Rs2.7 million cattle market fee, Rs9.1 million as water rate, Rs 4.4 million as TMA’s property rent.

He said Rs6.4 million had been allocated to extend municipal services to all the 37 union councils of Haripur.
