GILGIT, July 13: At least eight people, including a woman, were killed in an accident on Sunday at Guru Jaglote, 27km north of here.

According to the police, a Hunza-bound wagon skidded off the road near Guru powerhouse, due to which five passengers died on the spot while two died on their way to the district headquarters hospital and another died after his arrival here, a doctor said.

Those killed included Fida Karim, son of Ali Mardan, resident of Khanabad, Hunza; Zahoor Hussain, a National Bank officer from Hunza; and Ali Ahmed Shah, a Habib Bank manager in Hunza.

The doctor said that at least 10 passengers, including two women, had been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. He said five bodies were handed over to the heirs in Guru.—Correspondent
