KARACHI: Altaf asks partymen to serve people

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 13: Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain has asked the party leaders and workers to take extra care of the people of Landhi and Korangi who, he said, had already suffered a lot at the hands of oppressive forces over the past 11 years.

In his telephonic address to the party workers and supporters in Landhi, Korangi and other areas of NA-255 constituency, Mr Hussain highlighted the agonies they were made to undergo and called for all possible efforts by the newly-elected Muttahida MNA and the partymen to solve their problems. He asked his supporters to avoid any activity that could add to the people’s miseries.

Paying tribute to the steadfastness demonstrated by the people of the area, Altaf Hussain pointed out that they had proved that a land could be occupied, but hearts of masses could never be won with the might of weapons, intimidation, terror and state-terrorism or other oppressive means.

He recalled that an operation against the Muttahida had been launched on June 19, 1992 and the Landhi-Korangi areas occupied by terrorists who had unleashed a reign of terror against the innocent inhabitants. Despite the state-sponsored terrorism, he said, the victims continued to resist the oppressive forces with courage and determination and foiled all the attempts by the terrorists to strengthen their centre.

He congratulated the people for their success and said that no oppressive forces would be able to keep them away from him.
