KABUL, July 13: At least nine people have been killed and 24 are missing after heavy floods struck central Afghanistan last week, a UN spokesman said Sunday.
“The situation is serious, with up to 24 people missing and nine bodies have been recovered so far,” said the UN spokesman Manoel de Almeida e Silva.
According to Almeida, representatives of UN agencies visited the area on Saturday to assess the extent of the damage. —AFP
