KARACHI, July 11: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday named panel of umpires and referees for Asia Youth Cup Cricket Tournament starting from Monday on behalf of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Umpires panel included Test umpires Saleem Badar, Mian Aslam, Aleem Dar, Nadeem Ghouri, Asad Rauf, Afzaal Ahmed Rizvi and Islam Khan.
Referees panel includes former Test cricketers Taslim Arif (Pakistan), Rumesh Ratnayake (Sri Lanka) and Roger Binny (India) besides Munawar Agha (Pakistan).
Teams are drawn in two pools. UAE, Maldives, Qatar and Singapore are drawn in pool “A”. Pool “B” consists of Malaysia, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Oman and Thailand. Two teams after round league matches will advance into the semifinals.
Mian Aslam and Islam Khan will supervise semifinal at National Stadium on July 25. Ratanake will be the match referee.
On the same day at Quaid-i-Azam Park Steel Township, Saleem Badar and Asad Rauf will supervise the second semifinal with Roger Binny officiating as match referee.
The final of the event will be held at National Stadium on July 27. Aleem Dar and Nadeem Ghouri will be umpires while Ratanayake will be match referee.
The finalists will earn right to play in the World Youth Cup Cricket Tournament being held in Bangladesh in January/ February 2004.—APP
