QUETTA, July 11: An all-parties conference will be convened to take political leaders into confidence over various issues, including the law and order situation in the province.

This was said by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yusuf on Friday.

A date in this regard would be given after he returns from his tour, he said.

Talking to a group of newsmen here, the chief minister said that politicians would be invited suggest ways and means to improve the law and order situation.

Declining to comment on allegations levelled against senior police officials by former home minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, he said that army officials were investigating the matter.

Chief minister said that an impartial inquiry was underway and the government would act against whomever was responsible for the July 4 massacre irrespective of his status or official position.

The deployment and patrolling of the Frontier Corps personnel in Quetta would continue for some days, adding that normalcy was gradually returning to Quetta and would stabilize soon.

Lauding the people’s role in maintenance of peace and sectarian harmony, he said that they should remain vigilant against terrorists’ activities, adding that miscreants’ attempts at disturbing the peaceful atmosphere should be foiled.

Jam Yusuf urged the people to help law enforcement agencies to identify the terrorists, saying their support was vital to destroy the terrorists’ network involved in the Quetta killings.

The chief minister said that the matter of appointing a new home minister would be settled in a few days, adding that either it would be given to another minister as an additional charge or he would retain the portfolio himself.

The chief minister said that a joint government-opposition meeting would be convened to discuss and redress the opposition’s complaints regarding the PSDP.
