Two dacoits among four killed

By Abdul Sami Paracha

KOHAT, July 11: Tension gripped Orakzai Agency, 27km north-west of here, when some alleged dacoits opened fire at a bus in the Kalaya area and killed two innocent people and injured five others on Friday.

A traveller, Riaz, and driver Syed Khalil Hussain Sherazi died in the firing.

Two dacoits were also killed when somebody in the bus returned fire. One of them was identified as Ghani Ali while the name of another could not be ascertained.

Haji Liaqat, owner of a public call office in Kalaya bazaar, told Dawn that the dacoits came to kill a man who somehow had got wind of their plan and fled. Mr Liaqat claimed that the criminals wanted to shoot the man on the direction of his enemies for a reward of Rs2 million.

He said Ghani and his accomplice had killed dozens of people for money.

The political authorities of the area have beefed up security in the troubled part of the agency.
