KARACHI: Walk held to mark world population day in city


KARACHI, July 11: A walk was held to observe World Population Day by the district population welfare Office, Karachi from Hyderi, North Nazimabad, to the Board of Secondary School at 9:30 a.m. here on Friday.

The walk was led by Sindh minister for sports and affairs, Naeem Ishtiaq and attended, among others, by DO population Ahmed Riaz Khan and chiefs and members of NGOs.

At the concluding point, the chief guest of the walk, Naeem Ishtiaq, in his address said that problems were increasing due to the increasing growth rate of population. “If it is not reduced, it will drain all our national resources”, he said.

Lauding the services of officials and workers of the department and DO Ahmed Riaz Khan, he said the department had come closer to achieving the target of population control.

“The objective of the walk is to create awareness among the masses and youths about the problems of the increasing population growth. Youths can be helpful in reducing the alarming growth rare of population and increasing the resources of the country”, he said.— APP/PPI
