Six teams qualify for final round

LAHORE, July 10: Six teams have qualified for the Punjab Inter-district hockey championship final round at the conclusion of the preliminary round at three different centres, out of total four.

The final round is scheduled to begin at the National Hockey Stadium from Tuesday.

From Khanpur centre, Rahimyar Khan and Rawalpindi have qualified. Hosts Dera Ghazi Khan along with Muzaffargarh also entered the final round.

Similarly, hosts Narowal with Faisalabad also qualified for the round.

Two teams from the centre of Vehari are yet to be decided.

Meanwhile, Punjab Hockey Association has nominated Olympian Akhlaq Ahmad as the tournament director and Ajmal Hameed Butt as umpire manager for the final round.
