Breach floods seven villages

JACOBABAD, July 10: A 70-foot-wide breach developed in the Kalach Canal, near Mohammad Pir, on Tuesday night.

Seven villages — Azizullah Katohar, Mohammad Hashim Chandio, Mohammad Umer, Mohammad Azam Brohi, Shah Bux Brohi, Mohammad Panah Katohar, Mohammad Ameen Katohar — were inundated by flood waters.

The villagers managed to plug the breach and saved their crops from submerging. No irrigation official visited the spot of breach.

ARRESTED: senior clerk of the education department, Yasin Dangar, was arrested on Thursday by the anti-corruption police on charges of fraud. The accused will be produced before the court today for a remand. Seven other officials have already been sent behind bars in this case.
