US wants dispute settled
By Our Correspondent
WASHINGTON, July 9: The US urged Pakistan and Afghanistan on Wednesday to over their differences amicably.
Commenting on a mob attack on the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul, a State Department official told reporters: “We hope both Pakistan and Afghanistan will be able to overcome it amicably by holding discussions.”
Pakistan lodged a strong protest with the Afghan government and said such incidents would not help improve bilateral ties. “We are looking at Pakistan and Afghanistan to work this out. We know President Hamid Karzai has apologized and spoken about compensation,” said the State Department official.
