LCCA chief shocked by PCB decision

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, July 9: Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) president Aamir Hayat Rokri on Wednesday expressed his astonishment over the decision of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to name provincial cricket chiefs instead of installing them through elections.

Rokari noted that he was a candidate for the post of Punjab Cricket Association president but appointing through nomination surprised him as it was against the condition laid down in the new PCB constitution which has yet to be implemented, he told reporters.

Aamir said that he was kept in dark as the issue of provincial cricket association was the part of the domestic structure which was introduced by the board recently. “We accepted the new domestic structure only for the betterment of cricket, but power have been taken away from the associations.”

He declared that he would announce his next plan of action  after meeting the PCB chairman on this issue.

Asked why election of the LCCA were not held after since it became due last year, Aamir said that he was ready for the election but it was the responsibility of PCB to conduct it. He added that election of Karachi City Cricket Association was also long overdue.
