KARACHI, July 9: Don’t Panic, the four-year-old dark bay filly from Strides By Strides out of Kafioca, strode home to another victory, at the Summer Race Meeting held on Wednesday at the Karachi Racecourse ground.

Partnered by Sher Mohammad, the dark bay filly did not present the connections with any nervous moments as she passed the winning post ahead of the dark bay colt Sardar.

Shah Mardan Shah II Pir Pagaro VII, who graced the occasion, was indeed a happy individual to see his filly triumph once again with another of his bay fillies in the race Bang On Target, ridden by M. Nasir run a close third.

Jockey M. Yousuf and trainer Mansoor Alam however stole the racing limelight with a brace of winners apiece.

Mansoor had his moments of triumph in the third race through Visitor, ridden by older brother M. Mazhar beating Lucky Lover by five lengths and followed it up with another victory through Raaz in the sixth event, with Shahnawaz astride.

M. Yousuf, out of the winning circles for quite sometime, made up for his miserable performance in the saddle astride Royal Promise in the opener, by winning on Royal Lancer in the fifth race.

Later he guided Chachu’s Dream to a magnificent victory in the concluding event, beating the favourite Strike The Gold from the outside in his last stride, even after Chachu’s Dream went terribly wide while turning into the straight.

Yousuf however, could count himself lucky in the fifth race.

The race seemed gifted to the winner Royal Lancer after the rider Nadir Abdullah and Ashiq Ali riding Auzy and Sweet Grandy respectively, never seemed interested to win this race.

Both riders were guilty of preventing their mounts to run on merit, obeying the commands of their individual owners who ordered their riders not to beat Royal Lancer at any cost.

However the two riders paid dearly for their part in the plot. Both were suspended for a period of six months and fined rupees 20,000 apiece.

M.R. Hussain’s chestnut gelding Lucky Love upset the applecart by winning the opener, beating Royal Promise by 2 1/4 lengths with Muzaffar Hussain in the saddle. The favourite Raysham finished a disappointing fourth.

Win Today, partnered by Riaz Mohammad, grabbed the honours in the fifth race, beating Tom Cruise by two and half lengths with Prism Of Life ousting Law Of Nature for the third spot.

Sovero, ridden by M. Nasir, never let his large band of supporters down, sprinting to his second straight victory over Power Plus and Ustadon Ka Ustad in the forth race of the afternoon.

The next race meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 13.
