Tribal leaders asked to help maintain peace

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 9: Balochistan Governor Abdul Quadir on Wednesday urged the tribal leaders to play their role in maintaining harmony and brotherhood among the people of the province.

Speaking to the chiefs of different tribes at Governor’s House, he said they should not only keep intact the valuable tribal traditions but also implement them.

“People of Balochistan have been living with each other as brothers for centuries and no power could spread hatred between them,” he said.

He said the people of Balochistan had foiled all such attempts with their unity. He asked the tribal elders to help the government and other institutions in this connection.

Tribal leaders, including Sanaullah Zehri, Bahadur Khan Bangulzai, Nawab Abdul Rahim Shahwani, Nuroz Khan Satakzai, Mohammad Zaman Khan Mohammadshai and Mir Khalid Lango, assured the governor that they would extend all possible cooperation to the government to cope with the situation.

#NAZIMS:# Speaking to district Nazims who called on him, the governor stressed that they should fulfil their responsibilities for maintaining peace and order and take steps to apprehend the outlaws and criminals.

“No crime or criminal could remain hidden from the Nazims and councilors if they perform their duties with honesty and devotion,” he said and asked them to keep a vigilant eye on antisocial elements in their areas.

The governor said the elements spreading hatred should be discouraged and such activities reported to the government.

He underlined the need for close coordination between the provincial and district governments.

The Nazims gave their suggestions for improving law and order in the province.
