RAWALPINDI, July 8: The government has directed the law-enforcement agencies to beef up security around Iranian mission and other offices throughout the country, especially in Islamabad, in wake of the intelligence reports that the Al-Qaeda activists may target them, an official source told Dawn on Monday.

Security sources said the interior ministry had directed the law-enforcement agencies, especially the Islamabad Capital Territory police, to take all possible measures in this connection and tighten security around Iranian mission and other buildings like Khana Farhang.

In wake of the directives from the top management, all the police officers and station house officers have been asked to ensure fool-proof security in their respective jurisdictions.

Security personnel in plane clothes have already been deployed at mosques and imambargahs in Islamabad and patrolling in sensitive areas has been intensified.

The police have also been asked not to allow parking of vehicles in the vicinity of worship places.
