LAHORE, July 8: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has said the city district government is determined to make kite-flying a safe sport for the citizens.

Distributing certificates among the officials monitoring the ban on kite-flying here on Tuesday, the Nazim said 177 people had been arrested for flouting the ban. He said power trippings had not been reported on Sunday because of the efforts of 30 teams comprising social welfare, labour and police officials working under Community Development EDO Zahid Aziz Khan.

The Nazim gave away certificates to SSP Operations Aftab Cheema, divisional SSPs Rao Abdul Karim, Capt Mobeen, Dr Usman Anwar, Bilal Siddiq Kamiana and Raja Riffat, social welfare officers Aqeelunnisa, Yomna Amin, Zebunnisa, Hamera Arif, Asma Naureen, Anis Chaudhry, Muhammad Afzal Mirza, Muhammad Younis, Asif Bashir Butt, Ghulam Sabir, Chaudhry Mumtaz, Asif Rashid Khawar, Shahid Sarfraz, Rana Shahid Mahmood, Muhammad Sadiq, Dr Nadeemul Hassan Gilani and Muhammad Sohail Janjua.
