MIRPURKHAS, July 8: As many as 149 posts of doctors are lying vacant in the district which has created an acute shortage of doctors in the area as a result its residents, particularly those of rural areas, are suffering.

This has been stated in a letter recently sent to the Sindh secretary health by Mirpurkhas executive district officer (health) Dr Fazal Yousfani.

He stated that the vacant posts of BPS-17, 18 and 19 included those of medical officers, women medical officers, dental surgeons and physicians.

Mr Yousfani demanded that appointments on the vacant posts should be immediately made.

TWO KILLED: Two brothers, Abdul Latif, 33, and Ahmed Dost, 30, were axed to death in an armed clash between two groups of Dars tribesmen in the Deepa Mari village on Monday night.

Three of their brothers — Alam, Gulu and Bakhshu — were injured in the clash, which was over a piece of land.

The Kaloi police have registered a case against 14 people, including Abdul Raheem, Fateh Mohammad, Khubar, and Mir Mohammad Dars.
