KARACHI, July 8: Round- the- clock efforts by KESC engineers and staff have kept the city’s power supply system normal, said a KESC spokesman here on Tuesday.
He said a close watch on weather and a practical rain emergency plan for the current monsoon season prepared earlier by the KESC had worked well during the rain.
He said constant supervision by the senior management with chief engineers controlling the central operation centres and the zonal engineers alert in their respective localities avoided any major power breakdown at the 52 grid stations or the extra high tension transmission lines.
The KESC spokesman further said the KESC head office had received many phone calls appreciating the effort in keeping the city well lit.
He said the intermittent feeder trippings that occurred due to heavy downpour were normalised in the minimum possible time, except in some areas where due to underground cable faults or other technical reasons it took more than two hours to energise a feeder.
Besides, he said, during the last 24 hours 7000 individual complaints had been received, of which 5550 had been repaired. The delay, he said, was due to standing rainwater and inaccessibility in reaching the spot of breakdown. — APP
