Country cut off from Web

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 7: The country lost its connection to the world wide web on Monday when two Internet links of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company gave way.

A PTCL spokesman told Dawn that a link between the International Gateway Exchange and Hawkesbay — which is known as SEA-ME-WE 3 (South East Asia, Middle East and Western Europe) link in technical parlance — was damaged at around 3.30pm.
