KARACHI, July 6: Five new players were included on Monday when a 20-member squad for Europe tour from July 22 was announced after the trials here.
The players were selected after two-and-half hours trials watched by the selectors. Saeed Khan was missing from the trials who had gone abroad.
Five new boys selected are full-back Kashif Ali and forwards Kashif Yaqoob, Mohammad Arshad, Khurram Shahzad Butt and Asif Bilal.
They were part of “back-up” camp which was conducted by Farhat Khan.
During the tour, Pakistan appear in the four-nation contest in Alcala Real, Spain, and later take on Spain senior and junior sides.
They play a couple of games against local clubs in the Netherlands before moving to France for a three-Test match series.
Prior to the start of eight-nation championship in Poland, Pakistan meet hosts in three-match series from August 11 to 16.
The team is to leave for Alcala Real via Barcelona on July 21.
Meanwhile, selector Hassan Sardar will visit Spain to analyze the performance of the boys in the four-nation contest.
He will report to the PHF president Gen Aziz Khan after observing the players.
Squad: Shakir Munir, Mohammad Adeel Anwar (goal-keepers). Ikhlaq Ahmad, Tariq Yameen and Kashif Ali (full-backs). Imran Khan, Mohammad Imran (Vice Captain), Abdul Asim Khan, Mohammad Khalid Mahmood and Sajjad Anwar (half-backs). Mohammad Arif, Yasir Islam, Khurram Shahzad Butt, Mohammad Akhtar, Mohammad Arshad, Tariq Aziz (Captain), Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Kashif Yaqoob, Asif Bilal and Adnan Zakir (forwards).
The nine standbyes are: Adnan Hamid, Abu Bakar, Mohammad Iqbal, Majid Khan, Mohammad Ateeq, Syed Abbas Haider, Bilal Saeed, Aamir Shahzad and Ishtiaque Ahmad.
