KARACHI: Killer bus torched by angry mob: Six die in city

KARACHI, July 6: A passenger bus was set on fire, after it knocked to death a young man on Sunday at Nawab Siddiq Ali Khan road in Gulbahar.

Police said that Abdul Hanif, 25, was on his motorcycle (BRA-5515) when a speeding bus (JA-5644) of route 1-E, knocked him down.

The man was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the accident, enraged mob set the bus on fire, the police informed the fire brigade.

The police said that the bus was partially gutted, as the fire brigade officials put out the fire.

TWO KILLED: Two persons died when they were knocked down by a speeding minibus in Mochko on Sunday morning.

Police said that Shamon Javed, 45, and Patras Masi, 42, were riding a motorcycle (KRI-5564), when a speeding minibus (JE-8326) knocked them.

Both the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said after hitting the motorcyclists the minibus rammed against the pavement and overturned.

Two policemen who were travelling in the minibus were also injured in the accident.

KILLED: Unidentified persons stabbed to death a young man in Quaidabad on Sunday.

Police said that unknown persons barged into the house of one Zahid Nawaz, 40, in Future Colony and stabbed him to death.

Police said that the victim was father of four and an employee of Machine Tool Factory.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination, the police added.

SHOT DEAD: In another incident, some unidentified persons shot dead a young man in Khudadad Colony on late Saturday night.

Police said that a police mobile found an injured man at the Khudadad Colony roundabout. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Hospital sources said that the victim had suffered a bullet wound in his head.

The police identified the man as Ghousur Rehman, 30, who was residing with his in-laws in the Khudadad Colony, after developing difference with his parents. The deceased was an exporter of sports goods, the police said.

DIED: An unidentified man died when a wall collapsed on him in Landhi on Sunday.

Police said the wall probably collapsed due to rain. The victim was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In another incident, a factory employee, Gul Hasan, died when roof of the factory caved in, in the New Karachi Industrial Area in Sector, 12-C.
