Ismaeel goal ends Hyderi Baloch’s unbeaten run

KARACHI, July 4: Baloch Mohammadan brought high-flying Hyderi Baloch down to earth when Ismaeel Baba scored the match-winner in his side’s 1-0 victory at CDGK Stadium on Friday.

Both the sides missed a number of gilt-edged chances throughout the game. Aftab Ahmad and Ali Mohammad of Hyderi Baloch wasted opportunies in the 11th minute and 19th minute.

Baloch Mohammadan’s Mohammad Jan and Abdus Samad also missed the target in the 29th and 34th minute.

Hyderi Baloch, who were unbeaten before the defeat, again came near scoring but Shah Nawaz was blasted wide in the 46th minute, while Baloch Mohammadan retaliated the very next minute only to see Ismaeel’s effort going astray.

Ismaeel finally broke the ice in the 55th minute. Hyderi Baloch pressed for an equaliser through Ahmad Ali in the 67th minute but failed to level.

Qais Abdullah slammed the winner to keep Karachi United’s hopes alive with a 1-0 triumph over Mekran Sports at DHA Stadium under lights on Thursday.

Karachi United dominated early exchanges but missed several golden chances in the first half. Skipper Qais earned full points for his side when he banged home in the 19th minute.

Kashif Awan wasted an 11th-minute opportunity which was followed by another try by Hamza Khan in the 32nd minute which went in vain.

Mekran Sports fought hard after resumption but their forwards but could not score because of poor shooting. Mekran Sports midfielder Sarfaraz, the player of the match, squandered an open chance in the 52nd minute, while striker Basit Ali could not find the net in the 49th and 63rd minutes.

The game saw four yellow cards. Karachi United’s Furqan Ali (20th minute), Sajjad Naqvi (46th minute), Mekran Sports’ Ghulam Mohammad (30th minute), and Mohammad Shaukat (67th minute) were cautioned.

Saturday’s fixtures:

Aga Khan Gymkhana v Usmanabad Union at AKG ground; Nawab XI v Pakistan Petroleum at CDGK Stadium.
