Balochistan govt ‘inept’

LAHORE, July 4: The Jamia Al-Muntazir on Friday condemned in strongest terms the Quetta Imambargah incident in which more than 40 people had been killed.

In a press statement, the Jamia said the inept Balochistan government and failure of the authorities to sentence terrorists were major factors responsible for the tragedy.

The statement regretted that killers of hundreds of people, including doctors, lawyers and officials, were leading comfortable lives in jails.

The Jamia demanded that the prime minister take a serious notice of the incident and order exemplary punishment to the culprits.

Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan Amir Professor Sajid Mir alleged that the Quetta incident was the result of the US conspiracy which would provide Gen Musharraf a pretext to move against the MMA.

In a statement, he said, the incident had taken place on a day which the MMA observed as a blackday.

He said if Gen Musharraf ousted religious forces from parliament, the latter would throw him out of the country.

He said the nation would not accept the agreements inked by Gen Musharraf during his visit to various countries.

He said refusal to recognize the sanads of religious seminaries would amount to undermining the status of these institutions.

He said Gen Musharraf had declared a war against the Islamization programme of the MMA and the adoption of Shariah bill by the NWFP Assembly had jolted him.
