JUI takes out procession

LANDI KOTAL, July 4: Activists of Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam (JUI) took out a procession in Bara, Khyber Agency, on Friday to register their protest against Peshawar High Court’s decision of unseating a Muttahida Majlis Amal MNA from Kohat.

The protest procession started from Munara Chowk and ended at the Bara Bazaar, chanting slogans against the Jamali government and describing the court’s decision politically motivated.

Another protest meeting was held at Dar ul Huda Markaz-i- Islami Alamgudar. The gathering was addressed by Jamat-i-Islami Khyber Agency chief Maulana Abdul Wadood, who said there was no justification for the verdict as Mufti Ibrar had already been allowed by the Election Commission to contest the October 10 elections.

“This is a political decision rather than a judicial one,” he said, adding that the masses had no confidence in the higher courts.

The judiciary has lost its credibility due to Legal Framework Order, he added.
