Quetta killings condemned

ISLAMABAD, July 4: The Pakistan People’s Party on Friday condemned the Quetta sectarian killings and termed it failure of the government to maintain law and order. It demanded judicial proble into the tragedy.

In a statement issued here on Friday a PPP spokesman said, “the senseless and brutal killing of over thirty devotees in an Imambargah in Quetta as they were offering prayers and the subsequent law and order situation paralyzing civil life in the city is most deplorable and is condemned in the strongest terms.”

He said that the Friday “mayhem belies the claims of President Gen Pervez Musharaf repeated during his foreign tour that he has the support of the people and is in control of the situation in the country.

The spokesman said that a worst sectarian killing should have occurred in the home province of the Prime Minister Jamali only dramatizes the utter helplessness of the Prime Minister. It also brings into focus as to who is calling the shots.

“The PPP is deeply perturbed over the killings in the mosques and imambargahs. The Party demands a judicial probe, arrest of the killers, compensation to the bereaved families and accountability of those failed in their responsibility of maintaining law and order.

The party also condoled with the bereaved families.

AMIR HUSSAIN: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has condemned the attack on a mosque in Quetta and expressed his sorrow and grief over the killing of 31 innocent citizens, adds PPI.

He sympathized with the affected families saying that: “People should forge unity and fraternity among their ranks to defeat the insidious designs of the anti-social elements,” he maintained.

He prayed for the departed souls for their eternal peace.

KHALILUR REHMAN: Acting chairman Senate Khalilur Rehman has strongly condemned the terror attack on a mosque in Quetta killing over two dozens innocent people terming it a stigma for the society.

In a message, he expressed sympathies for the affected families and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace.

SHERPAO, FAISAL: Minister for Water and Power Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat have expressed deep shock and grief over the loss of innocent lives in tragic incident in Quetta.

Mr Hayat strongly condemned this cowardly act of terrorism and assured that efforts would be made to track down the miscreants.
