By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 3: The Central Board of Revenue has established an investment centre at the board aimed at facilitating investors in taxation related issues.

An official source in the CBR told Dawn on Thursday the centre was established following the observation that investors were facing problems in getting information prior to their investment in different sectors.

The CBR has decided to post three secretaries of income tax, customs and tax policy and facilitation at the centre, who will provide all kind of assistance and information regarding taxation measures to the investors.

The official said the centre would also assist the foreign investors in getting information in ascertaining the tax component in preparing feasibility report on new projects or industries to be set up in Pakistan.

The government in the budget 2003-04 had already added provisions in the law for advance ruling on the application of the non-resident taxpayer.

According to the official, a committee of CBR chairman, member direct taxes, additional secretary law and justice division is proposed to be formed.
