Kidnapper gets life term

BAHAWALPUR, July 2: An anti-terrorism court handed down on Wednesday life term to a man, who had kidnapped for ransom a couple last year from Qaimpur.

The judge, Muhammad Afzaal Sharif Kazmi, has also ordered confiscation of convict Ahmad Nawaz Shah’s property.

According to the prosecution, Ahmad Nawaz had kidnapped Sohail Maqsood and his wife Razia Bibi, and demanded Rs200,000 ransom from their family.

Acting on a tip-off, police retrieved the couple and arrested the accused with Rs2,300 which he had received in advance from the couple.
