EDO injured in attack

BADIN, July 2: Health EDO Dr Ahmed Ali Talpur was badly injured when three armed men barged into his house and opened fire on Wednesday.

The three men, who were masked and armed with revolvers, arrived at his residence and inquired from his guard about the EDO’s presence. They barged into his house and one of them entered his room. The others took guard outside.

The masked man was overpowered by Dr Talpur who shouted for help. The former’s accomplices rushed into the room and opened fire on Dr Talpur. The armed men then escaped.

Dr Talpur was taken to a hospital. The cause of the attack could not be ascertained. The Badin police have registered a case against three unknown assailants.

Meanwhile, doctors and paramedical staff observed a strike, closing out patient departments in government hospitals to protest against the attack on Dr Talpur.
