Malakand Levies to set up foundation

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, July 1: The Malakand Levies will soon establish a foundation on self-help basis, enabling the paramilitary border security force to set up various projects for serving and retired employees, including a hospital, college, public canteen and vocational centres.

This was said by Commandant of the Malakand Levies Lt Col (Retd) Said Rasool, while addressing a Levies’ Darbar at Malakand, a handout stated on Tuesday.

The commandant said that the levies would also explore other income generating projects in this regard.

He said that philanthropists and other well-to-do people would be approached to support the foundation.

He said a committee would be set up soon, which would carry out survey in this regard.

The commandant criticized the performance of the Malakand Levies personnel during a recent operation and urged them not to succumb to the pressure of anti-social elements.
