LAHORE, June 30: Sikandar Khan of Garrison Academy stole the limelight by establishing three new records in the one-day Lahore District Swimming championship held at the Senior school pool of Aitchison College (A.C) here on Sunday.
In all, four new records were established.
Sikandar, competing in the Under-18 event improved the previous record of Faraan Ahmad Irfan in 100 metres freestyle when he clocked 58.20 second. Faraan set the record in 1997 by completing the distance in one minute 1.77 seconds.
Sikandar went to shatter the second record when he covered the 100m breaststroke distance in one minute 16.84 seconds to eclipse the previous record of one minute 19.6 second set by Abdul Aziz in 2001.
He then went on to improve the third record in 50 metre butterfly, clocking 29.12 second to outshine the previous record of Faaran of 32.21 seconds, set in 1997.
The fourth record of the meet was set by Qasim Ali Shafi (Lahore Garrison School) in the Under-10 competition who took 19.25 seconds to cover the 25 metres butterfly distance. He broke the previous record of 19.55 seconds held by Syed Mustafa Shah in 1998.
However, Mustafa excelled in the Under-15 competition by winning all the four stroke events.
