KARACHI, June 30: An unbeaten 77 by left-hander Sunil Shanker, coupled by fine spin bowling by Sunil Mohan, enabled KGA Gymkhana beat Rizwan CC by 128 runs in the 1st Azad Cup cricket tournament, organised by Pak Asian CC, at KGA Ground here on Sunday.
Batting first after winning the toss, KGA scored 227 for five in their allotted 25 overs. Apart from Shanker, Rodrigues brothers Hilary and Jonathan each made 38 while Freddy Decruze made 25 and Sham Ramesh 21.
Rizwan CC, in reply, were shot out for just 99 in 21.3 overs. Sunil Mohan bagged four for 20 in five overs. Medium-pacer Asghar John claimed two for 32 and slow left-armer Victor Sebastian two for 21.
In another match played earlier in the day, a superb knock of 105 by Shahid was not enough to save his WSCC from a six-wicket defeat against ACCA.
WSCC made 206 for four in their 25 overs. ACCA, however, made short work of their target of 207 and won the match in 23.5 overs with Abid (55), Masroor (47), Ejaz (32) and M. Qasim (25) leading the way.
Hill Park CC, meanwhile scored their second straight victory when they overwhelmed Golden Boys CC by 105 at Suleman Yousuf Molai Ground.
Saeed Taimur fell seven short of a century as Hill Park CC amassed 225 for seven in 25 overs.
Golden Boys started promisingly to reach 68 for one but lost the remaining nine wickets for the addition of 52 to be all out for 120 in 23.2 overs with Saeed Ahmed picking up three for 24.
In the other match, also played at the same venue, Al-Fateh CC easily notched up a 105-run victory over Hussain Merchant CC.
Batting first, Al-Fateh CC recorded the highest total of the day in piling up 242 for six in 25 overs. Nasir (89) and Amir (87) were the main scorers.
Hussain Merchant CC, in reply, were all out for 137 with Tahir capturing four for 20 and Waqas three for 26.
