Aqeel bags title

KARACHI, June 29: Aqeel Khan beat Hasan Mehmood in the final of the men’s singles event of Caltex Open Sindh Tennis Championship by two straight sets 6-2,6-2 on Sunday at Modern Club.

Aqeel,maintained his dominance throughout the game. He played with his unique style against his rival who was top seed in the tournament.

Earlier on Saturday Adnan Khan beat Akber Patudi in the final of Boys Under-18 event. In the first set from the beginning Adnan played aggressive shots just drop two points to his opponent took the first set 6-2.

Akber Patudi tried hard to come back in the second set but Adnan Khan in this set also had an edge over his rival due to his accurate shots won the title.

Promising Gulam Abbas defeated Nasir Mushtaq after tough encounter in the second set by 6-2,7-5 in the final of Boys Under-14 event.

Nasir Mushtaq put all his efforts to win the second set came close enough but after five all in the second set Gulam Abbas impressively took two final points and finished the match in two sets.

Gulam Abbas also clinched the title of Under-12 Boys event in the one-sided affair. Gulam Abbas in this event easily trounced his opponent Zohair Reza by 6-1,6-1. Gulam Abbas just conceded one point in both the sets to his opponent.

Ladies Single: Zarmeen Shoeb bt Sana Bhagat 7-6, 1-6, 6-4.

Boys under-14: Ghulam Abbas bt Nasir Mushtaq 6-2, 6-2.—PPI
