Committee to check water theft

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, June 28: The growers of Halani have formed a committee to check water theft from the sub-canal.

Speaking at a meeting, they alleged that the irrigation officials were selling water to landlords at the head of sub- canal who had tempered with modules of watercourses. They said no water was supplied to the tail-end due to this.

They said they themselves would guard the waterway and lodge cases against those who were stealing their share of water with the connivance of irrigation officials.

WHITE FLY ATTACK: Cotton crop in different talukas of the district has been attacked by the white fly.

The growers said the white fly had attacked cotton crop in Khairpur, Thari Mirwah, and Kot Diji talukas.

They said taluka Kot Diji was worst affected where 70 per cent crop in Deh Noor Bozdar and UC Naseer Faqeer Jalalani had been damaged.
