CHAKWAL, June 28: The Tehsil council approved a Rs110.7 million budget for the fiscal year 2003-04 earmarking substantial amount out the total outlay for development schemes.
The budget was approved at a special session of the council here on Saturday which was presided over by Tehsil Naib Nazim, Malik Altaf Dhurkana.
According to the budget document, the total expected revenue target has been estimated at Rs110.7 million while total expenditures will be Rs110.5 million, showing a surplus of Rs0.2 million.
As much as Rs70 million has been allocated for development schemes and Rs40.18 million for non-development expenditure.
To meet the water shortage in the tehsil, Rs3.8 million has been allocated for provision of potable water. For promotion of sports and cultural activities Rs1.73 million has been set aside of which Rs0.73 million will go to sports and Rs1 million for Jashan-i-Chakwal celebrations.
An amount of Rs1 has been allocated for installation of streetlights.
ID CARDS:: National Database and Registration Authority has set up a swift centre at District Council Plaza to facilitate the people.
The Nadra director-general, Col Shaukat Raza, said the centre started functioning on Saturday, however, it would be formally inaugurated on July 2.
The official said people could obtain computerized identity cards in 30 days after depositing the old cards and fee of Rs60 for each card.
The applicants will have to deposit Rs180 and the documents if they want to obtain the new cards within 15 days, he added. Col Shaukat said the applicants would not be required to fill a form of submit photographs or any other attested document.
CONVICTED: : The district and sessions judge, Riaz Ahmad, awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to Ejaz Hussain in a Hudood case.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on the convict, who would have to undergo another three-month jail term if he failed to pay the fine.
The convict will also receive 20 lashes.
