National relay championship

LAHORE, June 27: The first national relay championship for men  and women will be held under floodlights at the Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad on Aug 12.

Pakistan Athletic Federation, secretary Khalid Mahmood, told Dawn that the event was being held by the federation’s development commission and would provide 1500 athletes of the country to show their atheltic prowess in hot summer season.

Khalid said that all the 13 affiliated units would send  their men and women teams for the competitions.

The men will compete in 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 relay  races and 200, 400, 800 and 1600 metres medleys.

The women, Khalid, added would compete in only two  events included 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Besides the four provinces and Federal Area Islamabad,  the other affiliated units of the federation which will take part  in the event are Wapda, Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan  Ordnance Factories, Railways, Police and UGC.
