Demonstration staged

BAHAWALPUR, June 27: Leaders and activists of the Shabab-i-Milli took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in in front of the SSP office here on Friday.

The protesters were demanding the arrest of the accused involved in the acid attack on Rabia (14) on Thursday at Basti Horian.

Later, a delegation of the Shabab-i-Milli met with senior police officials who assured them that the culprits involved in the acid attack would soon be arrested.

Meanwhile, Dawn learnt that the police had arrested three nominated accused — Ahmed, Sajid and Ahmed Baksh in addition to one of their accomplices, Younus. Their fifth accomplices is yet to be arrested.

DIRECTED: DCO Imran Ahmed has asked transporters to ensure the provision of basic facilities like toilets, waiting rooms and cold water for passengers at bus and wagon stands by Aug 31.

Presiding over a meeting here on Friday, the DCO also directed the officials to shift all bus and wagon stands out of the city.

WALK: A walk in connection with the ‘International Day’ against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organized here on Friday.
