MINGORA, June 27: A young couple has been killed over a marriage dispute, while returning home from a local court in Matta, Swat.

Ihsanullah, 22, son of Said Usman, and Nazima, 18, resident of Bahadur Banda, Matta subdivision, were killed on Wednesday when they were returning home from a court after getting bail from a court.

The cause of the killing was stated to be a marriage dispute between the two families.

It is said that Ihsanullah and Nazima were engaged to each other with the consent of both the families. But later the girl’s father declined to tie the marriage knot of his daughter with Ihsanullah and decided to marry her to somebody else upon which the couple disappeared and appeared before a court, for a bail.

In the meanwhile, a Jirga intervened and asked Ihsanullah’s family to marry one of their girls to the other family and also pay Rs150,000 as penalty to settle the dispute.

On Wednesday, after getting their bail confirmed, the couple was on way home when they were stopped by accused Saifor, son of Sher, Hasilzada, son of Saifor, and Izat Khan, son of Faramosh, and pulled out of their vehicle. The two were fired upon and killed on the spot, whereas the killers escaped.
