Zarmeen and Hasan win

KARACHI: June 26: Top seed and Sindh No 1 Hassan Saeed easily tamed his opponent by two straight sets 6-0, 6-4 in men’s singles event of Caltex Open Tennis Championship at Modern Club on Thursday.

Top seed Zarmeen Shoaib booked her berth in the final of the ladies’ singles event after a tough encounter with Fatima Hai. Zarmeen took almost one hour and 45 minutes to overcome her opponent in three straight sets by 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In the other semifinal 2nd seed Sana Bhagat beat new comer Roomasa in straight sets by 6-1, 6-4.

Eleven-year-old Omer Shahid proved his worth in the semifinal of boys Under-12 singles event when he beat Zubair Raza in a closely contested encounter.

Both boys, engaging in baseline rallies made a few errors but Omer in the end took the game by straight sets 6-3, 7-6.

Hassan Mehmood bt Ahmed Hussain 6-0,6-0, Adnan Khan bt Zia Hai 6-7,6-3,6-3, Jalil Khan bt Haris Iltifat 6-2,6-2, Aqeel Khan bt Akber Patudi 6-1,6-1.

Boys Under-14 semifinals
