ICA to meet PTV in final

ISLAMABAD, June 26: The final of the ICA-PTV League Cricket Championship between Asif Memorial and NHA is to take place on Sunday at the Shalimar Ground.

A spokesman for the Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) said that umpires Mian Muhammad Aslam and Z I Pasha had been appointed to supervise the final.

In the semifinals of the League that featured 133 matches, NHA defeated Punjab by 113 runs while Asif Memorial edged out Diamond by 19 runs.

The spokesman meanwhile said that chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Lt. Gen Tauqir Zia will lay the foundation stone of the Diamond Cricket Ground on July 1.

The ground being upgraded under the PCB’s Vision 2005 programme at a cost of Rs 250,000, once ready will be the first venue to be run by a cricket club.

Later, Gen Tauqir will give away prizes to the winners of the ICA team that won the Cornelius Trophy and the victors and other outstanding players.
