KARACHI, June 26: Two motorcyclists were killed while another was injured in separate road accidents on Thursday in parts of the city.

Police said a young motorcyclist, identified as Zaid Haroon, 25, died and his friend Saqib was injured when they were knocked down by a speeding water tanker (JP-1327) at M.A. Jinnah Road. The tanker driver fled after the accident.

The police said the two young men—Haroon and Saqib— were riding on a heavy bike (8B-2688).

Both the injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi where Haroon was pronounced dead.

In another incident, a young motorcyclist died after falling from his vehicle in Garden West.

Police said Ayaz Khan, 22, had fallen headlong on road when the front wheel of his motorcycle (KCF-4957) went into an open main hole.

KILLED: A mother of two children was stabbed to death by her brother-in-law here on Thursday in Azam Basti of Mehmoodabad.

The killer of Shahzadi Farzana, 25, wife of Sohail, was identified as Tariq.

GIRL ELECTROCUTED: A young girl died on Thursday from electrocution in Old Golimar.

Police said Nausheen, 20, had suffered a serious electric jolt while cleaning the house. She was taken to the Civil Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

In another incident, Seema, 20, was injured while cleaning a pistol of his father in Rizvia Society. She was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

FIR: The Ferozabad police on Wednesday night lodged an FIR about a gang rape and arrested the suspect in the case.

According to reports, mother of the victim lodged the FIR —255/2003— with the Ferozabad police station that her son-in-law Faisal, along with four other unknown persons, committed a gang rape of her daughter on the night of June 19. Police arrested Faisal.

PROTEST: Enraged residents of Lyari continued their protest for the second consecutive day on Thursday, with police resorting to baton-charge and teargas shelling.

Disturbance followed the death of a young man, Kamran aged 18. He was knocked down by a speeding bus of route (7-C) on Tuesday night in Shahrshah.

Police said the victim’s funeral procession, while heading for the graveyard got stranded in a traffic jam in Lyari on Wednesday. The participants the funeral procession got down from the coffin-carrier bus and started pelting other vehicles with stones, making the traffic situation even worse.

The young man, who was also a supporter of the PPP(SB), was buried after much delay. Protest over his death and pelting of vehicles with stones continued on Thursday on the main Chakiwara road, Art Chowk and Shah Abdul Latif road.

The protesters demanded that the route of the bus 7-C be changed as, because the route had caused several accidents. To disperse the protester, police resorted to baton-charge and teargas shelling.
