OKARA, June 25: A Swedish counsellor who had come here to visit Chak 45/3R on the military farms in the company of a journalist and representatives of an NGO, was sent back to Islamabad by the local authorities who claimed that he did not have the Foreign Office permission for the purpose.
According to sources, DPO Aslam Tareen was informed on Wednesday afternoon that some foreigners were visiting the military farms. They were asked to come to the DPO office, where they were identified as Swedish counsellor Dag Juhlindann Felt and People’s Rights Movement representatives Miss Asha and Kamran Shafi.
DPO Tareen reportedly asked the Swedish counsellor if he had the Foreign Office permission letter for the visit. The counsellor said: “I have just informed the Foreign Office but I do not know whether the FO has conveyed it to your office or not. I reached here on the invitation of NGO.”
Mr Tareen told them that the visit was against the law and could not be allowed.
