RAWALPINDI, June 25: District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani has directed the district police officer to take action against the proprietors of a fake housing society for defrauding poor people.

The Nazim issued the directive after completion of an inquiry by the executive district officer (community development) against the housing society — Pakistan State Corporation (PSC).

The inquiry had been ordered by the Nazim after receiving complaints from the affected people.

The inquiry report said that the PSC was a bogus housing society, which had been offering people plots and houses in different areas. In fact, no such society existed and the money was taken from the people through fraudulent ways, the report added.

The society had mostly targeted orphans, widows and other poor people in a bid to avoid any kind of retaliation.

The report said that the society had not been registered with the Cooperatives Housing Department of Punjab but in the pamphlets, advertisements and other correspondences, it was shown as a registered society.

The report declared the proprietors as professional swindlers and cheats.

A huge amount of money was received from the people but no possession of land was given to them. When the people asked for the possession of land or demanded their money back, the society threatened them of dire consequences, the report said.

Meanwhile, District Nazim Rawalpindi Raja Tariq Kiani has said the district government is giving top priority to completion of all ongoing development projects within the stipulated time period, adds PPI.

The district Nazim stated this during opening of Sadiqabad- Haji Chowk Road here on Wednesday.

He said all the development projects of the district government were being completed within the given time frame, specially the road projects.

He said the quality of material had been checked before the beginning of the work and high standard construction material was being used in the road projects.

District Naib Nazim Raja Javid Akhlas, Nazim Union Council No. 28 Sajid Abbasi also spoke on the occasion.
