KARACHI: Sattar’s victory termed success of people

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 25: The chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, said on Tuesday that the victory of Dr Farooq Sattar in the by-election was not only the success of the people of Landhi and Korangi, but was an achievement of all the oppressed citizens.

While felicitating the party workers and supporters on the election of Dr Farooq to the parliament, he maintained that his return to parliament was an addition of a positive chapter in the history of the country.

Addressing the party activists and voters at Dr Farooq’s central election office at Landhi, he appealed to the people at the helm of affairs, policy making institutions, army generals to accept the Muttahida with open heart in order to nullify the damages done to the party in the past.

He said that Muttahida was a strong and positive force in the country, which could not be eliminated even after years long operation against it. The party would prove an asset for the country, he said adding that his party could be source of strength for Pakistan, provided it was allowed to play its role in true sense.

The day of Dr Farooq’s victory was also a day of defeat for those, who believed in terror, operation and preach religious animosity, Mr Altaf said. He said that the people of Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony and Lines Area had been liberated after 11 years of hardship and victimization.

He thanked President Musharraf, Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammad Mahar, Corps Commander Sindh, DG Rangers and others.
