Resolution against land grabbers

SIALKOT, June 22: The Sialkot district council at a session presided over by acting convener Chaudhry Akram Boriyar unanimously passed a resolution for getting vacated the district government’s property and shops worth millions of rupees in Talwara Mughalan union council, which had been grabbed by a locally influential Qabza group that never paid any rent.

The house also passed a resolution for reorganizing all school councils.

HABEAS CORPUS: A bailiff of District & Sessions Judge Chaudhry Zafar Hussain raided the Kotli Loharan police station and recovered two persons, Talib Hussain and his son Naseer Ahmad, who had been detained illegally.

The judge, taking serious notice, summoned the Kotli Loharan SHO for June 30.

SHOT DEAD: BA student Irfan Aslam was shot dead by unidentified dacoits on offering resistance, in Kharota Syedan.

The dacoits took away Rs9,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

Police have registered a case with no arrest.

DEADLINE: The Sialkot excise & taxation department has fixed June 30 as the last date for property tax defaulters to clear their outstanding dues. After this deadline, the excise department will issue warrants for the arrest of defaulters, ETO Salahuddin Butt told newsmen at Sambrial in Daska.

GEPCO KUTCHERY: Gepco Chief Executive for Gujranwala division Brig Saifullah Khalid will hold an open kutchery at Sambrial (Daska) on Monday (today) to redress the grievances of Wapda (Gepco) consumers, according to a press release issued here.
