SWABI, June 22: Jamaat-i-Islami’s provincial amir Senator Prof Ibrahim said on Saturday that the no-trust motion against the National Assembly speaker would meet with success “as he converted the non-partisan chair to a partial one.”
Speaking at the Rabita programme of Abaseen Union of Journalists on Saturday, he said the speaker invited his own death by giving ruling in favour of the controversial Legal Framework Order (LFO).
He said: “I hope the combined opposition would garner the required support for the no-confidence motion. The ruling was unconstitutional and illegal. According to the rules, the speaker should remain impartial. His tilt towards the president has destroyed his own credibility.”
About President Musharraf’s visit to the USA, UK, Germany and France, he said although he enjoyed the king’s party’s backing, he did not enjoy such support those of the masses. Each head of state, including Gen Musharraf, should take parliament into confidence before embarking on such an important visit.
He said because Gen Musharraf did not take any such step, his visit had no significance in our view.
He said Israel was No 1 enemy of Islamic and the Islamic world, and our religion does not allow us to have relations with the Hebrew state, as the infidels can be friends with each other, but never with the Muslim states.
The government, he said, would not be allowed to recognize Israel, which had unleashed a reign of terror against the people of Palestine.
He said instead of calling for the recognition of Israel, Pakistan and other Muslim countries should create unity in their ranks, and work collectively for the liberation of the Qibla-i-Awal, which remains in Israel’s occupation since long.
He said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would not allow the devouring of the public money, and “the Rs18 billion owed by different officers, politicians and other important figures” would be recovered.
Who authorized them to devour the public money and indulge in a luxurious lifestyle while transferring the whole burden to the poor, he asked.
