KARACHI, June 22: The hunger strike being observed by Bengali-speaking people against the excesses of National Aliens Registration Authority (Nara) ended after the third consecutive day on Sunday evening.
The people, who were on a hunger strike in front of the Karachi Press Club, demanded citizenship of Pakistan, as they had been living in the country for more than 30 years here.
They claimed that the Nara had picked up almost 100 people for being aliens, but they had been living in the country since the fall of Dhaka and they were Pakistanis. The Nara had been forcing them to get aliens registration cards, which was an injustice to them, they added.
