HARIPUR, June 21: A teenaged boy committed suicide in Mohallah Asifabad here on Thursday evening, family sources said.

Mohammad Waseem, 17, son of Mohammad Zarin, had an argument with his elder brother over a petty matter. He went into his room and shot himself in the chest with a pistol, they said.

He was taken to the DHQ hospital in critical condition, where the doctors referred him to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to AMC.

WATER SHORTAGE: The residents of Baka union council have been facing acute water shortage for the last 15 days owing to some mechanical fault in the suction pump in village Gadwalian.

The villagers, on Saturday threatened to take to the streets and block the Karakuram Highway if water supply scheme was not made functional in three days.

The villages of Bugnian, Gadwalian Nariana and a number of other localities were the worst hit where the water pump had been out of order creating severe shortage of water in this hot season.

“Our women and we are forced to fetch water from distant areas,” said Ali Mashwani.

He said in spite of repeatedcomplaints, the department concerned has failed to provide alternative arrangements or get the water supply pump operative after the passage of 15 days.
