TC approves Rs226m uplift plan

GUJRANWALA, June 21: The city tehsil council approved Rs226.3 million development plan for 2003-04 at a meeting here on Saturday.

Tehsil Naib Nazim Ehsanullah Chaudhry presided over the meeting while Ashfaq Ahmad, a union council Naib Nazim, presented the development plan which was approved by a majority of the members.

However, some opposition members opposed the plan demanding that it should be presented with the annual budget for the fresh fiscal year.

According to the break down, a sum of Rs650,000 will be given to each Naib Nazim of union councils, who will also be provided with Rs50,000 each for street lights. The women councillors will be given Rs200,000 each for various development projects in their respective localities, besides Rs50,000 each for supplying sewing machines to widows.

The participants were informed that Rs10 million had been allocated for the construction of service roads on both sides of the GT Road.

DBA’S PROTEST: The District Bar Association criticized the Civil Lines police on Saturday for registering fake cases against some members of the bar, and demanded their withdrawal.

At a meeting held here on Saturday presided over by Bar President Ilyas Rehan, the lawyers constituted a five-member committee to hold a dialogue with police to solve the dispute.
