Doctor held for ‘teasing’ girl

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, June 21: Police claimed on Saturday to have held Dr Saleem Manzar, an employee at Bahawal Victoria Hospital’s emergency ward, for allegedly teasing a girl admitted there for treatment.

Reports said a trader’s daughter was hospitalized at the BVH’s emergency where Dr Manzar administered her injections and tried to tease her. However, the girl managed to flee.

On receiving information, her father and other traders rushed to the hospital, ransacked Medical Superintendent Dr Altaf Malik’s office and asked him to hand over the vagabond to them.

The MS, on finding Dr Manzar guilty, handed him over to police which had registered a case.

Meanwhile, BVH Principal Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Amin suspended Dr Manzar from service, and constituted a four-member committee to inquire and submit its report shortly.
